An entirely novel family of electronic wind instruments - These musical instruments incorporate technologies for which I have filed patent applications - For this reason, the details I can provide at present are limited. 3 models are under development, planned for production hopefully by mid 2008, these are: baby Flewt(R) - An extremely simple low cost instrument comprising single axis recorder style mouthpiece for control of amplitude, and capacitive hand position sensor for control of pitch. Can be played with ease by a 4 year old child, although unless the child has an exceptional awareness of pitch, it is likely to get on everyone’s nerves. Flewt(R) Mini - I expect this to be the most popular - combining multi-axis / multi-mode mouthpiece with control of up to 4 (assignable) parameters (for example amplitude, filter cut-off, resonance, modulation) and a multi-axis hand position sensor (+X,-X,+Y,-Y,Z) all of which can be assigned to parameters (pitch, modulation functions, filter functions etc). Providing MIDI (or optionally Wireless USB) output, this can drive any monophonic synthesiser to emulate classic wind instruments, or drive instruments such as the MiniMoog This instrument could be likened to a multi-axis Theramin providing a MIDI output, and having additional control via a mouthpiece. Flewt(R) CLASSIC- This instrument combines all the functions of the Mini with independant capacitive ‘buttons’ allowing conventional fingering to be employed, and also opening the possibility of polyphonic output for emulation of the few polyphonic wind instruments. This unit (driving a suitable synthesiser) should be able to emulate any wind instrument ever produced, as well as many which have only ever been imagined.
